BOREALIS #1 / Script by MARK VERHEIDEN & AARON DOUGLAS / Art by CLIFF RICHARDS / Colors by GUY MAJOR / Letters by JIM CAMPBELL / Published by DARK HORSE COMICS

Qinu, Alaska is a dying town. Between the corrupt local government and the rising tensions between the oil company that owns everything and the Inuit natives, there is little reason to stay in Qinu. Certainly State Trooper Silaluk “Sil” Osha was glad to put it behind her 13 years earlier.

Unfortunately, Sil’s supervisor sent her back to Qinu to investigate a series of strange murders. His hope was that her familiarity with the area might help her to find something the local deputies missed. Unfortunately, the crimes are familiar to Sil for an entirely different reason, tied to the past she was trying to escape and her frightening connection to a deadly legend.

Borealis is unlike any horror comic I’ve read in recent memory. Mark Verheiden and Aaron Douglas spin an intricate story, with a truly unique setting and a memorable protagonist in Sil. The artwork is also amazing, with Cliff Richard’s ominous art perfectly completed by the cool colors of Guy Major. This action flows smoothly from panel to panel, as tense as any cinematic thriller. If you are a horror fan, you won’t want to miss this one!

Borealis #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on December 20, 2023.
